Coogee Bay Road Streetscape Upgrade, Coogee NSW

Randwick City Council recently made improvements to Coogee Town Centre to make the area more pedestrian friendly. The upgrade included removing overhead power lines, widening footpaths and installing new pavers, trees and street furniture to encourage visitors and residents to gather and interact in the space.

Project Design Brief

Designers wanted to incorporate several kerb extensions along Coogee Bay Road to provide more room for pedestrians, landscaping and public seating. However, the inclusion of these extensions meant there was more surface area to drain. Water needed to be removed efficiently and the drainage system would need to meet several legislative requirements to ensure pedestrian safety.
