Frew Park, Brisbane Qld

Brisbane City Council recently transformed the former Milton Tennis Centre site into an inner city parkland. Featuring sport courts, playing fields, playgrounds and sculptures, the park offers many services and facilities.

Project Design Brief

Designers wanted to keep the hardstand pavements as flat as possible for pedestrian safety. A durable drainage system was required to withstand heavy service vehicles. The grates also need to be safe for children, pedestrians and cyclists.

ACO's Solution

Benefits

  • The S100K sloped channel system provides 5mm fall per metre length of channel to ensure efficient run-off of water towards outlet points. This is important as the pavement was constructed flat and level
  • Rated to load class D (AS 3996), the Iron Intercept Heelsafe Anti-Slip grates are able to withstand truck loadings
  • The grates comply with bicycle safe requirements (AS 3996) and are slip rated to P3 (AS 4586) for pedestrian safety
